Al MacIlroy has been using CarCapsules for 15 years. Check out what he has to say.

Q: How long have has your CarCapsule been in service?
A: Overall, I have been using CarCapsules for the last 15 years. The one I’m currently using is six or seven years old. I’m kind of lazy so after a while, rather than spending time cleaning all the grime off of the CarCapsule I just buy a new one.

Q: Which model is it?
A: I have an 18’ Indoor CarCapsule

Q: What vehicle is in the capsule?
A: A 1964 Triumph TR4. I bought it new in 1964 and have owned it since. I’ve driven it through thirty four states, and three Canadian provinces. I’ve put at least 220,000 miles on it (the odometer wasn’t working at one point).

Q: How did you hear about CarCapsule?
A: For the first thirty six years of the car’s life it was in California. When I moved back east in 2000 I had a “semi-garage” to store it in, and I knew I was going to have to get a better shelter. I did some online research and found the CarCapsule.

Q: Where and how do you use your CarCapsule?
A: I use it in a garage that was a carport. I added garage doors so now it is semi-enclosed. I store the Trium
ph in the CarCapsule during the winter, and also during the summer if I’m going to be gone travelling for a while.

Q: What was the main reason you purchased your CarCapsule?
A: I looked at the cost to store my car for the winter, and compared it to the CarCapsule. It was much cheaper to get the CarCapsule - it was a heck of an ROI. Also, the car is here, rather than stored in another location. So the car is easy to access.

Q: What do you feel CarCapsule best protects against in your situation?
A: I feel it protects best against rust and humidity. Also, since the garage is not fully closed the CarCapsule also keeps out mice, chipmunks and squirrels.

Q: Are there any particular situations in which the CarCapsule has been a great help?
A: There wasn’t a particular drastic incident, like a falling tree branch, which it protected it from.But it sure does keep birds from crapping all over the car!

Q: Have you ever used your capsule for another use, besides storing/protecting your vehicle?
A: No

Q: Have you ever had any problems with your CarCapsule?
A: I had a one problem. About a month ago the motor froze up. It was about five to six years old. CarCapsule quickly shipped me a new one, unfortunately it was damaged during shipment and the transformer was split open. CarCapsule quickly sent me a replacement – no fuss, no muss.

Q: Overall, how do you feel about your CarCapsule?
A: I’m an engineer and I appreciate well engineered items. What intrigues me is the elegance of the CarCapsules simplicity. Some people don’t believe it really works, they think there has to be some sort of dehumidifier to keep condensation from building up on the car. However, it’s very simple – circulating air keeps the mildew away.
