    Unfinished Malibu

Posted by Michael on 3rd Feb 2017

My 1968 Chevelle was my father's daily driver, from the day he bought it new, until 1985, when the 327ci motor gave out. He parked it in the back of the garage, and I told him this will be our father-son project when he retired. The project started in 2012. The car came out of it's slumber, and was slowly taken apart and documented. when we reached the limits of our skills, we farmed out what we couldn't do. The body went to a local shop, and work began to remove/replace rusted panels. There wasn't much left. After a couple of years at the shop, it started coming together, but scheduling of dash repair put a hold on the work. The shop was supposed to send the dash out early on, but instead delayed. The car just sat in the shop, with everyone tip-toeing around it. The manager finally contacted me, and asked if I could store it, until the dash returned, and final assembly could be done. So, they transported back to the same garage it sat in for 27 years. I too, was skittish walking around it, and I didn't want to put a regular cover on fresh paint. That's when I heard about Car Capsule. I read the reviews, and made the decision to make the investment. It was tricky getting the Malibu inside, since it doesn't run, or have a steering column at the moment, so, I had to become innovative. I used an oversize tarp to lay out the capsule. I rolled the clear top back as you would normally, but the basement had to be rolled in towards the center. Then, I slid the basement under the car, between the jack stands. I put a mat on the basement to place a floor jack on, lifted the rear end off the stands, and then rolled out the basement under the tires. When I positioned the jack stands back underneath, I used lids from 5 gallon buckets to keep the stand legs from contacting the basement. I repeated the steps on the front half, and rolled the top over the car. Now, I am sure it will stay clean and dry, until the shop is ready to come pick it back up to finish the project.

after getting the shipping mix up straightened out and receiving the correct order all is well. set up is easy and the capsule is well constructed.however since this will be used in a northern climate in a pole barn with a wooden floor the jury is still out on now well the fan performs in 90degree temp in the summer and minus 10 degrees in the winter.what is the warranty on the fan?please advise. thank you
