A primary function of the technology used with CarCapsule and ShowCase modelsis that it prevents water condensation from forming on the vehicle stored inside. What makes this possible is our Evaporative Storage Technology (E.S.T.).

Condensation is the process in which molecules of a gas, in this case water vapor, slow down, come together, and form a liquid. This occurs on a surface that is cooler than gas surrounding it. Water condensation on or within a vehicle can create consistent dampness, which can cause damaging mold and mildew, as well as musty odors.

One way to avoid condensation is to reduce the temperature variation between a gas and the surface it surrounds. Another is to move stagnant warm gas off the cooler surface before it is able to cool down and condense. Evaporative Storage Technology accomplishes both of these things. E.S.T. utilizes low speed fans to draw outside air into the capsule, exchanging inside air with outside air 3-4 times per hour. By getting warm air moving across the cooler surface it helps to equalize the vehicle’s surface temperature with air temperature. In situations where the capsule is in direct sunlight, which could cause the temperature of the air inside to increase beyond that of the air outside, E.S.T. will draw in the cooler air to reduce the temperature variation of the air and the vehicle surface. Also, the air movement in the capsule moves warm air off the cooler surface before it has a chance to condense. Therefore, even in areas of high relative humidity E.S.T. helps to reduce condensation buildup, regardless of climate.

Of note, E.S.T. will also help to remove moisture brought into a capsule – for example puddles formed by parking a wet vehicle inside the capsule. Circulating air will increase rate of puddle evaporation and then vent the humid air outside of the capsule. As well, a car can even be put away wet, and the fans will dry it.
